Life is What Happens to Us…

…while we are making other plans. There’s a quote for you from Allen Saunders, although it’s often attributed to John Lennon. We experienced this, as everyone does, last week when our summer plans came to a screeching halt and a change in direction. Claudia had to get home to Germany after news of a death in the family. So, we had to cancel some shows, postpone one, and now are making the most of what’s left of the summer in our own ways, six hours apart. Nothing that email and Skype can’t handle, right?

The show we had to postpone took on a new life with our change in plans. Friday, August 9th, we were to be sharing a show at the Concerts at the Historic Cooper’s House in Columbia, MD with BeJae Fleming and Jackie Blount. Rather than cancel, it was decided that we would reschedule for spring or summer of next year, and that the incredible Caroline Aiken would perform instead on the 9th. From the hosts of the concert:

We’re going to start the evening with a BBQ and pot luck dinner at 6:30 pm (details below) followed by 2 sets of music with Caroline Aiken starting at 8 pm. If you’re not familiar with Caroline, we’ve provided some information and links to songs and videos. Caroline writes beautiful songs, is a great finger-style guitar player, and has a wonderful soulful-bluesy voice. Think Bonnie Raitt or Susan Tedeschi vocals with some Leo Kottke like 12-string slide guitar licks thrown in for good measure!

So, everything works itself out, and the summer continues. We’ll get back to some great shows to finish out the year starting in September. See you out there!
